If i were to change a chapter in the book Iliad. I would change the part where Agamemnon and Achilles had a huge disagreement about who gets Briseis. If this part was changed I think this would make a very big change to the story. First of all, Achilles would immediately join the battle. Second, there would be different outcomes to different battle. Finally, the Greeks' triumph over the Trojans would be a lot quicker.

Zeus, god of the sky, god of Mount Olympus and of course, God of the Gods. He has the power to use thunderbolts as his own weapon. Zeus wields enormous power and authority over the other gods. But even though he was all powerful and wise, he still had a lot of weaknesses. These includes his insatiable lust. He was also fond of female charms and can be easily seduced by a woman, god or mortal.

These weaknesses were shown in the book. He was seduced by Hera in order for him to ignore the on going battle between the Trojans and the Greeks. Because of his of fond of female charms, this was no problem for Hera to seduce him. Zeus' weakness made the Trojans fall back and lose a great number of soldiers.

Iliad (Achilles a formidable king and warrior)

After being pushed back by the Trojans, the Achaeans sat brokenhearted in their camp, thinking of a way to win. King Agamemnon, troubled with the outcome of the war, declared it as a failure. When Nestor suggested a reconciliation with Achilles. King Agamemnon was enligthened with the idea. King Agamemnon offered a stockpile of gifts to Achilles for him to return to the battle. King Agamemnon sent some of the Achaeans best men to Achilles to convince him to return in battle, but Achilles rejected the for he had a grudge against King Agamemnon.

Achilles was a great warrior standing firm and rejecting Agamemnon's offer. He was a warrior with pride and dignity. He was an exceptional warrior and king. Eventhough he had the marks of a great warrior, his deep-rooted weakness serves as his weakness in battle. Achilles was unable to act with nobility and integrity. He would abandon his comrades and even pray for them to be defeated all because of an arguement with his commander. Leaving for the sake of your life and risk the lives of others is not a right thing for a king to do in battle. A king should always think of his people instead of himself.

Iliad (Stubborness of a king)

CN# 32

In the first book, King Agamemnon was faced by a priest, Chryses. Chryses brought a ransom and a scepter of Apollo Shootafar in exchange for his daughter. People tried to convince the king to accept the offer but instead the king rudely told Chryses to leave and never come back. As a result, Chryses prayed to Apollo Shootafar to make the Danaan's pay for his misery. Apollo heard his prayer and attacked the Danaan fleet. This showed King Agamemnon stubboerness in giving back the priest's daughter. Because of his stubborness his own men had to pay for his mistakes.

With the country getting ready for the 2010 elections, I can only think of one person who resembles Agamemnon's stubbornness of heart. Former President Erap Estrada has announced his intention to run for the highest public position even after convicted by the Supreme Court. Like Agamemnon, his ill-placed determination to once again lead, may place the country in an even worse situation that Agamemnon has placed his men in.

Both men have incited a deep rooting passion and anger in another person. For Achilles' deep seated anger to Agamemnon's inability to concern himself with the welfare of his kingdom, there is the younger generation of our time's realization to take a stand and vote wisely and not make another mistake of putting in the seat of the presidency a convicted Plunderer, Mr. Estrada himself.
